Professional online counseling in Okinawa and Greater Japan, from U.S. licensed therapists. We help individuals adjust to living abroad, cope with challenges, and build a life they love.

Our Mission

It’s simple: we’re here to help.

Individuals and families who have relocated to Okinawa and greater Japan face many challenges with living in a foreign country, and we provide effective professional mental healthcare to support their well-being.

Each person and their story is unique, and we’re committed to using our years of experience and expertise to help individuals navigate their inner and outer lives, working to discover how best to achieve more healing, ease, and fulfillment.

How does therapy work?

Therapy is a scientifically proven process whereby you work alongside a trained professional to learn how your thoughts and emotions work.  The therapist doesn’t tell you what to do, and it’s not just talking about your childhood.

You work as a team to practice navigating your feelings, try out more effective behaviors, and discover new ways of relating to your thoughts that help you live the life you want.

Each person is treated with courtesy, respect, and impartiality. Oki Counseling does not discriminate against any individual on the basis of race, ethnicity, color, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, national origin, or source of payment.

We are currently offering online therapy.

Teletherapy — or “online therapy” — has been around for years.  It has become an increasingly common way to receive mental healthcare, and research indicates that teletherapy can be as effective as traditional face-to-face therapy.
